Get to know a fascinating group of influential women who helped to shape the life and beliefs of early Christian communities. Together, we will consider the status and identity of women in their various contexts in the first five centuries of the church.

Week 1: Female priests, deacons and prophets: ministry and ordination.

Week 2: Wives, widows, virgins: female embodiment.

Week 3: Martyrs and monastics.

Week 4: Matrons, scholars and pilgrims.

Week 5: Christian empresses.
