Songs of Genomics
Join us for a musical exploration of genomics in healthcare, in collaboration with researchers at the University of Oxford, and HIVE Choir, a vocal ensemble based in Belfast.
Genomic testing is increasingly available – with uses ranging from tracing ancestry to guiding medical treatments – and holds promise for improving health. However, our research with people experiencing genomic testing suggests a more complex reality, with uncertainty or challenging implications.
Together with HIVE Choir we have transformed our research into songs that capture these complexities. The choir will perform these songs, featuring a new piece created during a workshop earlier in the day with individuals affected by genomic testing. The performance will be followed by an engaging panel discussion.
If you’ve experienced genomic testing, are curious about how genomic data affects health, or how collaborative music-making can deepen our understanding, please join us for this exciting evening.
