Oxford Medieval Mystery Plays 2025

On Saturday, 26 April 2025, the fourth iteration of the Oxford Medieval Mystery Cycle will take place around St Edmund Hall. Mystery plays were performed throughout the Middle Ages by and for everyday townspeople, and we’re excited to put on quite a day of shows for you!

Throughout the day, the 20-minute-long plays will take us from the Creation all the way to the Final Judgement, and through a variety of medieval and modern languages. Every play will be accompanied by a modern English prologue summarising the action, so they will be easily understandable.
