Cello Series V

Kodaly: Duo for violin and cello, op. 7
Bartók: Sonata for solo violin, Sz. 117
Bach: Cello Suite No. 3 in C major, BWV 1009
Ravel: Sonata for violin and cello, M. 73

We are absolutely delighted that the outstanding cellist Natalie Clein, formerly director of performance at Oxford University, is coming back to the JdP for two concerts in this calendar year to celebrate the JdP’s 30th anniversary. In the first of her concerts, Natalie is joined by award-winning violinist, Nurit Stark, to give a programme that focusses on two of the most magical pieces in the cello’s repertoire: the works for violin and cello composed within ten years of each other by Zoltán Kodaly and Maurice Ravel. The Duo and the Sonata are an absolute delight, and this is a rare opportunity to hear them played in the same concert by such exceptional artists.

6.45pm, pre-concert talk by Dr Oliver Chandler.
