A series of three practical workshops in the Ashmolean Learning Studio.
Workshops take place on Sat 22 Nov 2025, Sat 7 Feb 2026 and Sat 11 Apr 2026.

With Tanya Bentham, embroiderer and author.

Whatever your personal taste in wyrms, medieval art has something to suit your tastes, from silly swirly dragons from marginalia to serious depictions of St Margaret being eaten by one.

In this course you can choose to stitch a slinky wyrm in laid and couched/Bayeux stitch, or use naturally dyed wools, or you can try the more advanced technique of opus anglicanum using silk and gold to create the most dazzling of dragons.

All materials are included in the price of the course, except for the frame which you can either purchase from Tanya or return at the end of the course. You can also purchase extra materials from Tanya if you wish.

This event is part of our Connect & Collaborate season of events.
Tickets are £275 for the full course. Booking is essential
