With Paul Gravett, International Comics Historian, Author of Manga: 60 Years of Japanese Comics and Mangasia: The Definitive Guide to Asian Comics

Tokyo is home to most of the spectrum of Manga publishers, from the giants to more modest presses, and the majority of over 5,000 professionals who work for them. Paul Gravett explains how Japanese comics play a big part in the city’s daily life and explores how Manga have portrayed Tokyo in many ways, past, present and future, real and surreal, and sometimes almost as a character in itself. The talk contains some adult/mature subject matter.

This talk links to our major Tokyo: Art and Photography exhibition, which is open until 3 January 2022.

The event will take place online on Zoom and a link to join the event will be shared in advance by email.

Booking is essential and tickets are £4 for the online talk.
