For her second Tête-à-Tête programme this season Maki is joined by British/ Japanese composer, pianist and producer, Ben Nobuto, who was born in 1996. A graduate of Cambridge whose music has just been performed for the first time at the BBC Proms, Nobuto’s piano works in tonight's concert are all for piano and electronics, exploring themes of attention and fragmentation, and drawing from internet culture and popular idioms in a playful, ironic and surreal manner. He has chosen to pair his works alongside two pieces by Bach and Ravel that also transform the dance idioms of their day.
