We are pleased to invite the extremely promising London-based wind quintet, Lumas Winds, to the JdP for the first time. The group is committed to promoting a rich variety of wind chamber music repertoire, and have been described as ‘one to watch’ (BBC Radio 3, Record Review). The wonderful Beamish and Maconchy pieces in this concert received their world-premiere recordings on the group’s The Naming of Birds album, released in May 2024 on Champs Hill Records. A third piece from the same album, Oliver Knussen’s Three Little Fantasies, is derived from the composer’s enchanting song cycle, Hums and Songs of Winnie-the-Pooh.
