John Falsetto in Concert with Judith Valerie Engel

Join contemporary Mbira master John Falsetto (Pfumojena) and concert pianist Judith Valerie Engel as they come together to create new conversations between two traditional forms of musical performance.

Lead by John Falsetto’s performance practice that uses traditional rhythms as the core base for collaborative music making and storytelling, the artists will revisit classical Zimbabwean Music and piano classics to produce new synchronies of sound and rhythm.

The hour-long concert will comprise of an exploration of a symbiosis between traditional Zimbabwean music and Western Classical music, the respective 'native' spaces of the musicians who aim to find common grounds and new sound worlds through their collaboration.
