Join Professor Wang Limin, distinguished calligrapher, artist and scholar, who will reveal the ideals of aesthetic interest reflected in Chinese literati calligraphy and ink painting.

His demonstration will include, great seal script, official script, Wei stele script and running script of the calligraphy of saint Wang Xizhi, followed by a demonstration of ink painting.

Prof Wang will describe his techniques in Chinese – the translation will be voiced by an interpreter.

Wang Limin 王立民 (pen names Liming, Wuliang; courtesy names Hongshou and Mugong), lives in Harbin, northeast China and Sydney. He is a well-known artist and scholar in China. He has inherited the Chinese literati tradition, apart from being a well-known calligrapher and ink painting artist, he is also a seal cutting artist, art historian, poet and writer with publications of over 100 papers and six books on Chinese calligraphy, seal cutting and ink paintings.

He is national First Grade artist, member of Chinese Artists’ Association, Chinese Calligraphers’ Association, Chinese Writers’ Association and member of Xiling Seal Art Society.
