Bringing Science and Art Together to Explore Adolescent Trauma: ATTUNE
Welcome to ATTUNE's third and final Impact and Dissemination Conference! A project for young people, designed by young people, funded by the UKRI MRC/AHRC/ESRC.
ATTUNE (Attune) is a four-year programme of transdisciplinary research across both arts-based research, social science and health research. We are working with 10–24-year old children and young people across Cornwall, Kent, London, Oxford and Leeds who have experienced multiple adversities that risk poor mental health.
PI: Professor Kam Bhui and Co-PI: Professor Eunice Ma.
On Friday 27 June (10am-4pm) we would like to invite you to the third ATTUNE Impact and Dissemination Conference at the Lumiere Underwood Lofts, London (Venue Hire London | New Victorian Loft | - Lumiere London), where we will be sharing our key findings from the project.
The project brings arts and science together, to create new, hopeful solutions for those impacted by adverse experiences to improve wellbeing, recovery and bring hope to young people.
The project:
- Utilised creative arts methodologies to unearth lived experience amongst young people from diverse backgrounds across England
- Analysed exisiting big data sets (Headstart Cornwall, OxWell and DASH)
- Co-designed a public health resource called Validating Voices to help professionals and young people embed validation as a helpful experience in settings for young people
- Co-designed a digital serious game called ACE of Hearts, exploring different clusters of ACEs experienced by young people (bereavement and becoming a young carer, living in financial difficulty, living with a disability, experiencing gender dysphoria)
- Identifying key economic impacts of ACEs and preliminary cost-effectiveness on the two outputs
- Involved young people every step of the way, a project for young people, designed by young people.
This will be a very special event with young people, artists, policy makers and commissioners, parents and teachers, and health and social care experts coming together to consider the important learning, the potential impact areas and the next steps for the team of researchers and young people seeking to make a lasting difference in the world of today.
