A Redemption Song: Illuminations on Black British Pastoral Theology and Culture : Hall, Delroy: Amazon.co.uk: Books
Monday 12th June, from 10-4pm.
In the Collier Room
The book explores the psychological traumas faced by Black people suffering what he describes as 'Existential crucifixion'. This is the most important Black pastoral theology book written in the UK context. His book explores the Black pastoral concerns that address systemic racism, conflict, identity and belonging.
The day will consist of ministers and academics reflecting on the significance of the book, posing questions to the author and wrestling with the broader issues that the book addresses as they pertain to Black communities across the UK.
We are pleased that the author of this acclaimed book will be with us for the day. Dr Hall will share his thoughts on the writing of the book and will be in dialogue with other participants and attendees on the day.
The day is aimed at academics and practitioners coming together to explore the major themes of the book and the practical issues they throw up for churches and Black communities in the UK and possibly beyond. How can churches be places of healing for those who are wrestling with systemic racism and feelings of disaffection and alienation?
