In this talk Enid explores the themes of her new book, Art in Hong Kong: Portrait of a City in Flux.

She will discuss Hong Kong's M+ museum and other venues that have to tread a tightrope between celebrating a distinct and vibrant culture based on different influences and abiding by the new national security regime.

Contemporary artist Cheung Yee, whose work is on display at the Ashmolean in a special exhibition open until September 7, appears in the book as a leading figure of innovation in the Hong Kong art scene, especially during the 1960s when the city established its own identity as an artistic centre.
