Teachers' Conference
This event is fully booked.
The Pembroke approach to access work seeks to understand and accommodate the teacher perspective. Accordingly, our programmes connect staff in our partner schools and colleges, via the exchange of subject expertise of Oxbridge academics and alumni, and in so-doing boost and inform teaching strategies.
Pembroke is committed to deepening these connections at this annual Teacher Conference. It is an opportunity to enhance partnerships with schools and colleges that we work with week in, week out. It is also an opportunity for us to meet with those colleagues in schools and colleges that may well be advising their pupils to make an application to Oxford but who we have not yet met.
The conference has a number of aims. The first is to tackle the conceptual problems and opportunities of the Oxford approach to learning and how this information might be passed onto prospective pupils; the second is to demonstrate the mechanics of the Oxford application from a subject-specific perspective.
Finally, meetings with specialists in their respective fields will aim both to expand on the day’s work and to serve as a springboard for both future teaching, as well as providing advice and guidance that might be passed onto colleagues and pupils.
As ever, our undergraduates will be on hand to offer their own perspectives as current students.
The conference will conclude with an evening dinner. Overnight accommodation is offered free of charge to those travelling long distances.
