Get Started: Introducing the Rex Nettleford Prize and how to begin an independent research project

Join Oriel's Outreach team and Oriel PhD students to learn more about colonial history, the specifics of our current essay competition, and top tips needed for researching and writing like a university student.

In the first event of this three-part series, we will be introducing the Rex Nettleford Essay Prize for Year 12s (or equivalent) with guidance from academics and previous competition markers. We will also be giving best practice advice for starting out on an independent research project: where to find resources, how to take good notes, and more.

It is not expected that all attendees will enter the competition, and the session will offer beneficial advice for any students wanting to develop study skills for sixth form and university.
