About the course
This graduate diploma develops you as a leader who can navigate the complexities of 21st century business. The Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Organisational Leadership is designed for high achievers in significant management roles to question assumptions about management practice and build a deeper understanding of how to manage people and organisations for competitive advantage.
This page describes the course that will run from February 2022. All information provided, including fees and additional costs, is specific to entry in the 2021-22 academic year. Taught in four modules of four days each and completed in one year, the Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership combines the academic rigour expected of a University of Oxford graduate-level qualification with a practical approach to the study of strategic management, organisational development and design, and leadership. Each module (see further details) consists of approximately 24 hours of supported study. Students are advised that approximately 6-8 hours of self-directed study per week outside of the modules is required.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership offers:

Please note that this course is paperless. This means that paper handouts will not be provided for most of your courses. All presentations will be uploaded to our virtual learning environment. For pedagogical reasons this may be in advance of, just before or immediately after teaching sessions. Handouts will be provided for certain courses based on specific requirements, eg unreliable internet availability or where handouts operate more like a textbook than slides.
The allocation of graduate supervision for this course is the responsibility of the Saïd Business School and it is not always possible to accommodate the preferences of incoming graduate students to work with a particular member of staff.
The Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership adopts an assessment regime that requires participants to take four courses and satisfy the examiners in the assessment associated with each core course. Assessment will be a combination of written examinations, and individual assignments.
Changes to this course and your supervision
The University will seek to deliver this course in accordance with the description set out in this course page. However, there may be situations in which it is desirable or necessary for the University to make changes in course provision, either before or after registration. The safety of students, staff and visitors is paramount and major changes to delivery or services may have to be made in circumstances of a pandemic (including Covid-19), epidemic or local health emergency. In addition, in certain circumstances, for example due to visa difficulties or because the health needs of students cannot be met, it may be necessary to make adjustments to course requirements for international study.
Where possible your academic supervisor will not change for the duration of your course. However, it may be necessary to assign a new academic supervisor during the course of study or before registration for reasons which might include illness, sabbatical leave, parental leave or change in employment.

The Saïd Business School is one of the most modern, state-of-the-art business schools in the world. Facilities include seven horseshoe-style lecture theatres where most classes take place and a 300-seat lecture theatre opened by Nelson Mandela in 2002 to cater for larger-scale lectures and events.
A key feature of the building is the provision of informal working areas. There are numerous open spaces throughout, including cloistered walkways and a large internal courtyard – all of which help to foster interaction between students, faculty and visitors.
The Sainsbury Library is Saϊd Business School’s own dedicated resource. This state-of-the-art facility is spacious and fully equipped with desk space, wireless and networked computers, printers and copiers. Experienced library staff are available for advice and can help you use advanced search tools to carry out research for course projects.
Specialist research centres at the SBS mirror the knowledge-intensive end of a creative economy. They are helping particular sectors to wrestle with the challenges they face and to discover new directions through research. These centres include the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation and Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, amongst many others.
The University expects to be able to offer up to 1,000 full or partial graduate scholarships across the collegiate University in 2021-22. You will be automatically considered for the majority of Oxford scholarships, if you fulfil the eligibility criteria and submit your graduate application by the relevant January deadline. Most scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and/or potential.

Course fees cover your teaching as well as other academic services and facilities provided to support your studies. Unless specified in the additional information section below, course fees do not cover your accommodation, residential costs or other living costs. As part of your course requirements, you will need to choose a final project topic. Depending on your choice of topic and the research required to complete it, you may incur additional expenses, such as travel expenses, research expenses, and field trips. You will need to meet these additional costs, although you may be able to apply for small grants from your department to help you cover some of these expenses. Please note that this course requires that you are taught in Oxford, and you will need to incur travel and accommodation costs to attend the course if you do not live in the Oxford area.
In addition to your course fees, you will need to ensure that you have adequate funds to support your living costs for the duration of your course.
For the 2021-22 academic year, the range of likely living costs for full-time study is between c. £1,175 and £1,710 for each month spent in Oxford. Full information, including a breakdown of likely living costs in Oxford for items such as food, accommodation and study costs, is available on our living costs page. When planning your finances for any future years of study in Oxford beyond 2021-22, you should allow for an estimated increase in living expenses of 3% each year.
If you are studying part-time your living costs may vary depending on your personal circumstances but you must still ensure that you will have sufficient funding to meet these costs for the duration of your course.
Associate membership of Pembroke College is offered to all new students on the Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership.
Pembroke College was founded in 1624. The college is located on an attractive historic site in the heart of Oxford, a short walk from the Saïd Business School and with excellent access to the Bodleian Library and other university libraries.
Associate membership of Pembroke College allows you to become involved in the wider University, and to expand your network in Oxford. Following the completion of the course, all associate members become alumni of Pembroke College and are invited to reunions and gaudies.
