The Course

The English degree at Oxford is one of the broadest in the country, and you will have the chance to study all periods of English Literature, from 650 AD to the present day, over the three years of your degree. Indeed, we’ve been the #1 English Faculty in the world, as ranked by QS World University Rankings, for six years in a row!

Application information

We use many pieces of information to build up a picture of your academic promise, upon which an offer of a place will be made. Our tutors will consider your personal statement, sample of written work, ELAT performance, contextual data, past or future results, and performance at interviews. We hope the below resources will help you prepare and answer any questions! Mature students (21+) have more flexible criteria – if you are one such applicant, don’t miss our dedicated session from 15:00-16:00 in the chat boxes. You can always contact undergraduate.admissions@ell.ox.ac.uk with specific enquiries.
