BP Scholarships

The programme, launched in 2012, focuses on supporting the education and development of the next generation of engineers and scientists by building the skills and knowledge needed to work in the energy industry. Students in receipt of a BP Scholarship will receive £3,000 per annum for the normal duration of their course.

Other Information

Eligible subjects: Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Economics and Management, Engineering Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. Please note that students studying a joint honours course not listed cannot apply for the BP Scholarship.

Students will be expected to remain in good academic standing in order to continue receiving the award each year.

As a BP Scholar you will have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities, including a two to three day interactive event designed to help students understand more about the oil and gas industry and opportunities to shadow a BP intern for up to three days during the summer. You will also have early access to apply for the BP Internship Programme and Graduate Programme.

Please note, if you are successful in being selected as a BP Scholar this will not affect your entitlement to any Oxford bursaries of which you may be in receipt. However, if students are in receipt of any other external funding, it is their own responsibility to verify with their sponsor if there are any restrictions on their eligibility.
