No matter what you're studying, the Bodleian Libraries are here to help you. With nearly 30 sites, there’s plenty of choice of where to study. You can use any of the Bodleian Libraries, not just the ones for your subject. There are spaces to work on your own or in groups. Bring your own laptop or use any of the library computers. Each site has print, copy, and scan facilities, and you can bring a hot drink into most libraries using a Bodleian KeepCup. Make sure you’ve got your University card, and check opening hours on the website. As well as the Bodleian Libraries, each college has its own library, which can be used by members of that college. Staff are ready to answer any questions you have — speak to them in person, by email, phone, or through our live chat service. Library staff also run workshops to help develop your skills in reference management, literature reviews, searching for information, and more. You can contact your subject librarian for a one-to-one appointment. The Bodleian Libraries have extensive collections and provide access to online databases, more than 118,000 e-journals, and over 1.3 million e-books, as well as over 13 million printed items. You’ll find all these resources on SOLO, the University’s resource discovery tool. Some of our material is stored off-site, but you can request it through SOLO. Many reading lists are available on the University’s online reading list platform, ORLO. Access ORLO via Canvas, the University’s virtual learning environment. Over the centuries, the Bodleian Libraries have built up extensive collections of historical materials. The Weston Library is dedicated to these special collections. Some students and researchers may need to consult rare books and manuscripts, and will need to apply for permission to access them at the Weston Library. The Bodleian Libraries also have a Disability Librarian who can offer extra support, including extended loans, assistance with finding specialist equipment, and help locating suitable study spaces.
