Treaty and Truth: A New Chapter for Indigenous Governance
This online event will mark the recent historic milestone in Indigenous rights: Australia’s first treaty between Indigenous peoples and a government (Victoria).
Co-hosted by the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) and the Atlantic Institute, the event will bring together Ngarra Murray, co-chair of the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria; Christine Couzens, MP; and Dr Albert Barume, UN special rapporteur for the rights of Indigenous peoples, to reflect on treaty-making, truth-telling, self-determination and the global implications of Indigenous-led governance.
