Join us for a unique, live talk with expert speaker Professor Fritz Vollrath of the Department of Zoology, Oxford, about spider webs and silks.

Webs are fascinating examples of Nature’s 'Design by Evolution'. While this tends to be a rather time-consuming process it is powerful and able to create and fabricate highly functional and supremely efficient materials, devices, and systems. This talk will explore a few selected aspects of araneid evolution by discussing web form, construction, and function as well as the mechanism of a physical improbability evolved by combining two silks. Time permitting our speaker will discuss some spin-out opportunities provided by silk.

This event will be live-streamed only, with no recorded version, so be sure to sign up and attend the live session to avoid disappointment.
