Sholto Kynoch is a versatile performer, in demand for solo recitals, with chamber music groups and as a song accompanist. In addition to a busy performance schedule and a fast-growing discography, he is the founder and artistic director of the Oxford Lieder Festival, the UK's most renowned song festival.

Sholto is the pianist of the Phoenix Piano Trio, with acclaimed performances at the Wigmore Hall in 2013 and on January 2nd 2014. Recording projects include an on-going series of the complete songs of Hugo Wolf recorded live at the Lieder Festival. Gramophone Magazine wrote of the first volume: "The team of four singers is first-rate, responsive in every way, and if anything even more remarkable is the work of their pianist, Sholto Kynoch, displaying an exceptional expressive range, not only ideally agile but with the most subtle range of tone and dynamic."

In recent years, Sholto has appeared at the Berliner Konzerthaus, the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore, the Opéra de Lille, St John Smith Square, the Purcell Room and at many other venues and festivals. In May 2013 he gave a series of recitals in Colombia with tenor Dan Norman.

Sholto studied music at Worcester College, Oxford, and went on to The Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was awarded scholarships to all three institutions and upon graduation from the GSMD was appointed a Junior Fellow there. In 2010 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.

SJE Arts owes a debt of gratitude to Sholto: it was he who travelled to Granada, Spain to test and select our Steinway D concert grand.
