Shake Oxford's dreaming spires awake and help us bring Mexico's Day of the Dead fiesta to the Museum. Explore traditions and crafts associated with this eclectic Central American festival and find out how communities across the globe celebrate, mourn and remember their dead.
There will be lightning talks covering subjects such as 'Relics, Phantoms and the Remembered Dead: Finding Poetry in Loss' with poet Ruth Scobie, and the use of mummified body parts in medieval European medicine with Professor Christina Welch. Deathly activities for you to try (fancy making a mourners hat or a tiny casket to transport your heart back to your love?); real Museum objects to handle and a chilli tasting challenge... Don't worry though - you can visit the Halloween-themed cocktail bar to cool down!
Guests are invited to have a Museum makeover and become a sugar skull. Cuban-style Big Band Ran Kan Kan will perform throughout the night and remember, fancy dress is encouraged! For event updates, join the Facebook group.
