Workshop on the skills of early music consort singing. The skills required of professional consort singers are distinct from those of choral singers: it a much more intimate approach akin to that of instrumental chamber-music performance. This workshop provides a chance to develop and practise these skills, and will give our students valuable training from singers who are the top of this field. It is many years since we last ran this workshop at the Faculty, so none of the current student cohort have experienced it. It attracted good take-up and excellent feedback last time. The workshop complements the choral-performance course, which involves assessment in consort-group singing. The session will be led by two of Contrapunctus’s singers and Owen Rees.
