Inspired by the painted panels of Duke Humfrey’'s Library ceiling, Tania Kovats has created a new artwork at the threshold of the Weston Library. This interactive day of workshops and behind-the-scenes tours celebrates the contemporary and historical role of art within the Bodleian with book artists, printing, zine-making and more.
Free 90-minute 'Art in the Library' guided tours will start at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, and 2pm. Sign up for tours is first-come, first-served on the day, with 13 places per tour. Tours are designed for adults, but are also open to children aged 11 and over.
3.45pm: Members of the Conservation and Collection Care team will be showing a selection of artists’ books from the Bodleian's collections in the Lecture Theatre.
11am-4pm: Print a keepsake based on Duke Humfrey’s ceiling on the hand-press in Blackwell Hall.
Draw, collage, and write to add a page to our collaborative zine (11am-2pm) and help us assemble and print it (2pm-4pm.)
