From past productions on demand to table-top Shakespeare, from Zoom comedy to interactive events, 2020 saw an astonishing display of creative energy on our screens.

We talk to theatre leaders, makers and researchers about their experiences of making or programming work in lockdown, and ask them what challenged, surprised and delighted them.

This event will be hosted by TORCH Director Professor Wes Williams, joined by guest speakers:

  • Lucy Askew (Chief Executive and Creative Producer, Creation Theatre) and Dr Laura Jayne Wright (Lecturer, University College Oxford) for a discussion of Creation's innovative productions in 2020, and their upcoming collaboration on The Duchess of Malfi.
  • Yasmin Sidhwa (Artistic Director, Mandala Theatre Company) and Ria Parry (Co-Director, North Wall Arts Centre) for a conversation about Mandala's lockdown projects, and the North Wall's experiences with digital performance.
