Connect - 'Oxbridge Personal Statement Clinic'
St Hugh’s Connect is an online engagement project which has been running since 2021, consisting of one-hour Q&As led by current undergraduates. Sessions take place every two weeks during key stages of the UCAS and Oxbridge application processes. During these sessions, students have the opportunity to talk directly to St Hugh’s current undergraduates about various aspects of the application process.
The 13 September session will focus on a recap of top tips for writing a strong Oxbridge personal statement, last-minute personal statement queries, and in particular, attendees will be able to receive feedback on a section of their draft statement from current Oxford students. There are two options to receive feedback on a short extract (100-150 words maximum), of your personal statement:
- During the Teams session, post your section in the chat and use the ‘raise hand’ function so that the Ambassadors can speak to you directly, and you can ask them questions about the feedback they give you. Please note that simply posting your extract in the chat does not mean that we will discuss it; we will not read out your extract on your behalf. During these sessions attendees are expected to use their microphones.
- You will be able to pre-submit your section in advance of the session, but please note that due to the large numbers of registrations we receive, if you pre-submit your extract, we may not get to go over it; we will pick a handful of pre-submitted extracts and will then move on to the ones that are shared during the session.
Booking opens on Friday 30 August and closes at 5pm on Friday 6 September.
