New College

Located in central Oxford, New College is a supportive community and provides an environment which allows students from all backgrounds to flourish both socially and academically.

New College is one of the largest and most architecturally striking colleges, with beautiful gardens and a variety of excellent facilities.

You may recognise parts of New College - we have regularly featured in films and TV shows, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireMamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again and His Dark Materials.

The college has an exceptionally rich cultural, sporting and musical life. Our award-winning music practice building (the Clore Music Studios), our fantastic sports ground, and our brand new Gradel Quadrangles are all just a few minutes from the main College site.

We realise that the prospect of university can seem a bit overwhelming and we really want all of our students to flourish. Our extensive student support team provides comprehensive academic and personal support; our aim is to make New College feel like a home away from home.

College outreach

Link areas

In order to ensure that all areas of the UK are fully supported by the University of Oxford, our colleges are working together to establish Oxford for UK, a series of regional outreach programmes offering tailored and local support to students of mixed ages, their parents and teachers.
Getting in touch with the college linked to your region has no influence on your chances of being accepted to this or any other particular college. You are also very welcome to get in touch with any other college for advice about applying or studying here.
New College is part of Oxford Cymru / Oxford for Wales.

Outreach programmes

Step-Up Programme

New College is wholly committed to its outreach work and the College’s Step-Up Programme has been in operation since 2017.

The programme has been designed to inspire and support state-school students throughout Year 11, 12 and 13, is a sustained-contact scheme. Students have regular, consistent contact with the College's Outreach team over three years (two years for students attending a sixth form college).

Outreach network

New College also supports a local Primary School in Oxford and engages with external organisations such as The Brilliant ClubNACE and Thinking Black.

In recent years New College, along with two others, has also taken on responsibility for outreach provision in Wales, working with the Seren Network and hosting an annual summer school for Welsh state-school students.
