Mansfield College
About the college
Throughout its history Mansfield has worked hard to make an Oxford education available to previously under-represented groups.
The proportion of our UK students from the state sector is the highest of any college. Our small size and welcoming ethos make Mansfield a warm, informal environment where tutors and students work together to achieve academic excellence and sustain a progressive and lively community.
All undergraduate students are housed in Mansfield accommodation. Most students, including all first years, live on the main college site, with the rest in college accommodation a short cycle or walk away.
The majority of rooms on the main site are ensuite, with several large kitchens for student use. The college offers excellent food at reasonable prices in the Chapel Hall, while the Crypt café offers a more informal eating and study space. Our well-stocked libraries are open 24 hours a day, and students have access to free sports facilities.

College outreach
Link areas
In order to ensure that all areas of the UK are fully supported by the University of Oxford, our colleges are working together to establish Oxford for UK, a series of regional outreach programmes offering tailored and local support to students of mixed ages, their parents and teachers.
Getting in touch with the college linked to your region has no influence on your chances of being accepted to this or any other particular college. You are also very welcome to get in touch with any other college for advice about applying or studying here.

Outreach programmes
Next Steps
The Next Steps programme is a hybrid programme that aims to give Year 12 students the tools to make a competitive application to Oxford and Cambridge.
Originally a collaboration between Oxford and Cambridge colleges to support South Yorkshire, Mansfield has now launched the programme with some of our linked schools and colleges in Yorkshire & the Humber. The programme consists of two online sessions and two in-person sessions hosted at a hub school in region.
Further Education and Sixth College Open Day
The Oxford Further Education Access was formed by Mansfield College in 1999 as a Widening Participation Initiative with the aim of encouraging applications to the university from the Further Education (FE) sector, a particularly under-represented group at Oxford.
Mansfield College hosts an annual Open Day for students and staff in Further Education and Sixth Form Colleges. The events are attended by staff from across the University, ensuring that students are catered for whatever their subject interest, and also include sessions for staff in the FE sector.
Oxford Residential for Yorkshire & the Humber
As part of our work with Yorkshire & the Humber, we run a residential for Year 12 students from the region each year. Students get the chance to stay in Mansfield undergraduate accommodation, eat in our dining hall, take part in academic workshops, and learn about the Oxford admissions process.
