Music Performance Test

Applicants for Music are not required to register for a test. There is no written test for Music.

However, if you are shortlisted for interview you will be asked to email a 5-minute continuous video recording of a musical performance on your chosen instrument or voice. Videos can be made on any device such as a mobile (file type .mov or .mp4). Please upload the video and a scan of the sheet music to a shareable drive (for example, Google Drive) and email the link to academic.admin@music.ox.ac.uk with the written work cover sheet. Please do not email the video file. The quality of the recording will not be taken into account.

Candidates not possessing keyboard fluency to ABRSM Grade V may be asked to take a standardised keyboard sight-reading test at interview. Please indicate your level of keyboard proficiency on your UCAS application. There will be no sight-reading test during the interview this year. Most tutors will ask you to study a short piece of music and/or text about music in preparation for your interview; if so, this material will be given to you during your stay in Oxford.
