What is the Teacher Summer School?

Our Teacher Summer School is a CPD accredited two-day residential summer school for teachers at state-funded schools and colleges in the UK. The summer school aims to support teachers to stretch and challenge their most able students, and equip them with the best possible advice and guidance on selective university admissions. During the summer school, teachers receive detailed support and guidance about the Oxford admissions process, experience taster sessions for different academic subjects, and learn from mock interviews.

Who can attend the Teacher Summer School?

Teachers coordinating UCAS applications and/or teachers with teaching responsibilities at state-funded schools and colleges in the UK are eligible to attend. We particularly welcome applications from schools with a limited history of sending students to selective universities generally and Oxford specifically.

Participation in the summer school is free and includes two nights accommodation in an Oxford college and meals. We can also offer a contribution towards the travel and cover costs associated with attending.

What can you expect from the Teacher Summer School?

The programme includes a variety of sessions, including information about the Oxford admissions process, supporting students' subject choice, as well as subject-specific academic workshops, led by Oxford tutors. Across the programme delegates have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with admissions staff from across the collegiate University
  • Gain insight into our academic offering and tutorial system
  • Obtain information on our admissions procedures
  • Observe a mock interview
  • Take part in academic workshops
  • Speak with and hear from current Oxford undergraduate students about their experience of university life
  • Dine in an Oxford college
  • Visit world-class museums and teaching facilities
  • Visit the famous sights of Oxford
  • Network with colleagues in your profession

More information about the content is available in the example teacher summer school programme (this may be subject to change).

What is the cost?

The Teacher Summer School is free to attend.

We can also offer a contribution towards the cost of travel (up to £100) and supply cover at your school (up to £250).
