Register as a mentor

Graduate access mentor

Our postgraduate access initiatives are growing and we’re looking for DPhil student volunteers to help us support and encourage prospective students from underrepresented backgrounds considering a PhD.

Some of the things you may be doing as a mentor include speaking to summer interns on the University's UNIQ+ access programme about your research, online 1:1 sessions, giving feedback on a personal statement or CV, answering questions in a live Q&A session or moderating an online discussion.

We’re looking for Oxford DPhil and CDT students from any background and discipline to join the University’s new volunteer registry, though we’re particularly interested in hearing from students available to work with the UNIQ+ internship programme over the summer.

About the Black Academic Futures programme

The Black Academic Futures programme was launched in September 2020 and offers fully-funded scholarships for UK Black and Mixed-Black students starting a postgraduate research degree in October 2021. The scholarships are open to students from all academic disciplines and alongside financial support, Black Academic Futures scholars will benefit from a programme of pre-arrival, induction and on-course support throughout their time at Oxford.

As well as mentoring with you, scholars will be invited to join relevant offer-holder talks and panel sessions, and will meet each other as well as those involved in the programme during the pre-arrival stage.
