University response to recent events in Bangladesh
This page provides information about the University’s response to the recent events in Bangladesh as well as advice and support for staff and students impacted.
This page will be regularly updated. Last updated: 2 August 2024
We are aware that many of our students and staff may be affected by the deeply troubling events in Bangladesh, and that some may also be worried about family and friends in the affected area.
We recognise that for some students and staff these events are likely to be very upsetting, and we would encourage you to seek support if you need it, whether you are looking for practical help, advice or someone to talk to.
Information for staff and students
The University has written directly to impacted students and staff to offer welfare and other types of support. Both the University and colleges are working to ensure all members of the University community are supported as much as possible, and we will respond as appropriate as the situation develops.
We are aware that our students and staff will be affected in different ways by humanitarian crisis and conflict. This may include needing guidance on academic matters such as extensions and mitigation, student and staff welfare and wellbeing, financial support, reporting harassment, travel and visa advice, and our policies on freedom of speech and participation in vigils and protests.
Support for students and staff can be found on our general support page.
