The Prime Minister, David Cameron, came to Oxford University to mark the launch of a centre that will put the UK at the forefront of revolutionising healthcare through 'big data' and better drug discovery. The new Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Information and Discovery is supported by a £20m gift from the Li Ka Shing Foundation, and £10m for big data research from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

Professor Paul Newman gives the third annual Oxford London Lecture, entitled “Where are the robots?” on the challenges and potential impacts of robotic technology on society.

The MP views latest work on digitising the Jane Austen archive with Professor Kathryn Sutherland; photo voltaic work with Dr Henry Snaith, and the OrganOx equipment with Professors Constantin Coussios and Peter Friend.

Oxford joins Imperial, UCL, Cambridge and Manchester to showcase the value of research to the health and wellbeing of society.
