Information for Presenters

Breakout sessions

Thank you for agreeing to present at the first event of the UAS Conference 2013/14 series. This page details information for speakers on creating and submitting presentations, the facilities available at the Examination Schools, and preparation for the day. Remember, if you would like to attend other sessions at the Conference, please register from the Conference website registration page.

Creating your presentation

Please use the UAS Conference 2013 slide presentation template (1,108kb) and refer to the Slide presentation guidelines 2013 (70kb) document before submitting your presentation.

Presentation submission deadline

Email your presentation to uas.conference@admin.ox.ac.uk no later than Friday 20 September. This is to give us sufficient time to check and upload the presentations to the laptop in your allocated room in the Examination Schools. Please do not bring updated versions on memory sticks - you will not be able to use them. Presentations will be made available on the UAS Conference website shortly after the event.

Schedule by Speaker and Floorplan

If you would like to check the time of your session, please refer to the UAS Conference 2013 Schedule by Speaker Exam Schools (116kb). A Floorplan (8kb) of the Examination Schools is available showing the room layout for the Conference. The room for your session will be confirmed to you later in September.

On the Day

Handouts

If you would like to provide handouts to accompany your presentation, please bring these with you. We will email you the week before the Conference with the number of people who have registered for your session so that you can prepare the correct number. You will be provided with a list of attendees for your session on the day. If you would like a list of attendees prior to this, please email uas.conference@admin.ox.ac.uk.

Facilities

Your presentation will be pre-loaded onto the PC in your room. A holding slide (white screen, with the UAS Conference logo) will be inserted between each presentation, so just press 'enter' from the holding slide to access your presentation. A facilitator will be on hand to provide any assistance you may need. You will not be able to access any of the network drives from the laptops in the Examination Schools. Please therefore include all your content within your presentation slides. An internet connection is available for weblinks within presentations.

Sessions

There is a minimum 5-minute break between each session. This is to give delegates time to move between sessions and presenters time to prepare. To ensure that the Conference runs to time, please start and finish your session promptly. A facilitator will be on hand to give you a five-minute warning before your session is due to finish. The room will be set up lecture style (rows facing front) with a top table unless otherwise requested in advance of the day. A flipchart or white board will be available for use.
