Breakout Sessions

The first event in the UAS Conference Series 2013/14, taking place on Tuesday 1 October 2013 at the Examination Schools, consists of five breakout sessions. With the exception of breakout session 3, you have a choice of attending a 60-minute or up to two 25-minute presentations in each breakout period.

Are you keen to build or develop your social media presence? Do you need some practical ideas and strategies for how to build a community and engage with prospective students? Recruitment and web specialists from Graduate Admissions & Funding will lead this session, drawing on their own experience in this area, and invite you to share your ideas, tips and successes. This interactive workshop will look at what we can hope to achieve by using social media and how we measure our impact, how to build a follower base, and practical considerations like what and when to tweet/post. The session will also include an introduction to using web traffic data and Google Campaign tracking to monitor the success of promoting your content via social media and to find out which channels are most effective for different types of news and events, allowing you to maximise your impact. |

This session will explore how you can work with the museums to engage students in dynamic learning sessions and demonstrate research impact. During this session you will find out about the museums’ wide-ranging work including exhibitions, special lectures and events; object-based learning opportunities for students from a broad range of subjects; formal education for schools and partnerships with bodies such as Edexcel and Arts Award; and outreach with Oxford’s diverse community, including hard-to-reach audiences such as probation and homeless services. |

Student Systems Programme: the new eVision student record |

This presentation will outline the current status of the Student Systems Programme and timeline for rollout of the eVision student records system in 2014. A demo of both student and staff views of eVision screens will be provided relating to student detail changes and registration, visas, the fee schedule and module and diets validation. |

New to Oxford? You may be interested in a University Administration & Services (UAS) induction programme, which is being developed. Come along to this pilot workshop and learn about how the collegiate University fits together, including the relationship between the central UAS sections and the academic departments and colleges. We’ll take you through committee structures, governance and compliance, key people and their responsibilities and also include a useful overview of other induction, skills training and networking opportunities. As part of the workshop, we'll be seeking your feedback on the various elements of the programme to help shape its delivery. |

The implementation of Oracle Release 12 (R12) will affect all users of Oracle Financials. The project is on schedule for implementation on 11 November 2013. The implementation of Release 12 not only causes changes to the system, but also to the supporting departmental business processes and reporting. It’s important for users to be proactive and assess any impact on local departmental processes. This presentation covers the main actions that users need to take pre, during and post the go-live of R12 and how the R12 project team can help. |
