Australia beat Great Britain's men's hockey team 3-1 to take bronze meaning Dan Fox misses out on a medal.

9 August
Britain's men's hockey team, featuring Dan Fox, lose to Netherlands, but have one more game to try for the bronze medal.

7 August
Britain's men's hockey team, featuring Dan Fox, draw 1-1 with Spain to go through to the semi-finals.

5 August
Mara Yamauchi pulls up injured in the women’s marathon and does not finish.

4 August
Gold for Pete Reed and Andy Triggs Hodge in Team GB’s men’s four. Bronze for Charlie Cole in the US boat.

3 August
Canada's men's coxless pair, including Oxford alumnus Scott Frandsen, finish 6th in the final.

Team GB men's quadruple scull, including Oxford alumnus Tom Solesbury, finish 5th in the final.

2 August
Team GB men's four including Oxford alumni Andy Triggs Hodge and Pete Reed win their semi-final to progress to the final.

The US team, including Oxford alumnus Charlie Cole, win the other semi final.

The final is on Saturday morning.

1 August
Team GB wins bronze in the rowing men's eight with Constantine Louloudis in the stroke seat. Sjoerd Hamburger finishes in fifth with the Netherlands’ men’s eight. (Germany take gold with Canada in silver.)

Team GB's men’s quadruple scull finish third in the semi-final and progress to the final.

Canada's men's coxless pair finish third in their semi-final and progress to the final.

31 July
Team USA win gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay. Though Davis Tarwater was not part of the four swimming in the final, he receives a gold medal for being part of the four that qualified in the heat.

Team USA, with Davis Tarwater on the third leg, win their heat of the 4x200m freestyle relay and qualify as quickest for the final.

30 July
GB's men's four win their heat to progress to the semi-final.

GB's men's eight win the repechage with the Netherlands in third, sending both boats through to the final.

28 July
Sophie Troiano was drawn against fellow Team GB competitor Natalia Sheppard in the first round of the women's foil fencing. Natalia won 12-9 to progress to the next round.

Canada's men's coxless pair win their heat to progress to the semi-finals.

GB's men's quadruple skull rowers finish second in their heat behind Germany and progress to the semi-finals.

GB's men's eight finish second behind Germany in the heat, sending Germany through to the final and the GB team into the repechage. 

Netherlands finish third in the same heat also going onto the repechage.

We have been alerted to two more Oxford University alumni competing in the London 2012 Olympic games:

  • Dan Fox (St Edmund Hall, 2001) – is in the Team GB men’s hockey side.
  • Charlie Cole (Kellogg College, 2007) – is in the Team USA men’s rowing four crew.

Oxonian athletes who qualified and were selected for London 2012:

  • The British Olympic Association has announced today that Constantine Louloudis will compete for Team GB in the men’s eight category at the London 2012 Olympic Games. (4 July 2012)

  • Davis Tarwater (St Antony's College, 2009) has been selected for the US 4x200m relay team. (2 July 2012)

  • Scott Frandsen named in Canada's rowing men’s coxless pair. (28 June 2012)

  • Sophie Troiano (Christ Church, 2005) has been selected as part of the Team GB fencing squad. (12 June 2012)

  • Pete Reed and Andy Triggs Hodge both named in GB's rowing men's four. Pete Reed and Andy Triggs Hodge first rowed together to victory for Oxford in the 2005 Boat Race.

  • Tom Solesbury has been selected in GB's rowing men's quadruple scull. Tom gained his Blue in Oxford's victory in the 2009 Boat Race.

  • Sjoerd Hamburger has been named in the Dutch mens 8 rowing crew for London 2012. (Dutch website). While at Oxford Hamburger rowed in the winning 2009 Boat race crew and was President of the losing 2010 crew. (9 March 2012)

  • Mara Yamauchi has been selected in Great Britain's athletics team for London 2012. (6 December 2011)
