#ActiveatOxford New Year Challenge: Get active and win a hoodie

The new year means new opportunities to get Active at Oxford, and to give 2019 a fresh and healthy start. We want to see photos and videos of you achieving your new year's resolutions and our favourite ten posts will each win one of ten Oxford University hoodies.

Whether it's taking a walk in the park, playing badminton with a friend, or training hard for your Varsity match, you can share your posts with us on social media using the #ActiveatOxford hashtag to be in with a chance of winning.

You'll find lots of inspiration, ideas and advice for balancing sport and physical activity with your studies on the official Active at Oxford campaign page

Evidence shows that getting active can help with mental and physical health, and even improve academic performance and employment prospects - so getting involved with a new activity is the perfect way to start off the new year.

We have also released guidance for staff members, designed to help both students and staff manage the challenges that can come with balancing sports and academic work appropriately.

How to enter the competition

To enter the Active at Oxford Hilary term competition, post a selfie or action photo of yourself getting active and include the #ActiveatOxford hashtag. In your post, be sure to also specify which one of our four new year's resolution options you're taking part in:

Option 1: Try something new

Share a photo of yourself trying a new activity and tag in #ActiveatOxford.

Whether it's swimming, hitting the gym, or riding a bike, get active and get the new year off to a great start.

Include the activity you have chosen, and let us know why you decided to try it in your post.

Option 2: Make an active choice

Share a photo of yourself making an 'Active Choice' and hashtag  #ActiveatOxford.

Active choices can be anything from getting off the bus a few stops earlier to getting out for a walk in the park at lunchtime.

Find more inspiration on the Oxford University Sport website.

Let us know what your active choice is in your post, or share some other ideas for building in extra activity to your day.

Option 3: Return to an activity you used to enjoy

Did you used to enjoy playing a sport at school or college? Start the new year by getting involved in it once again.

Share a photo of yourself playing a sport or taking part in an activity you used to enjoy, include #ActiveatOxford and let us know what the activity was and what it was like to get involved again in your post.

Option 4: Train for an event

It could be an event – be it a Couch to 5K challenge, half marathon or a charity bike ride -  or perhaps you’re training hard for your Varsity match or Cuppers campaign? Share a photo of yourself training to be in with a chance of winning.

Let us know what event you are training for in your post.

All posts need to be shared on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook by Thursday 7 February. Only current University of Oxford students can enter the competition. The winners will be announced on the Oxford Students website and on our social media accounts the following week.
