Oxford University Student Union (OUSU)

As a student at Oxford, you automatically become a member of the Oxford University Student Union (OUSU). OUSU is a democratic, student led and independent organisation here to represent, support and enhance the lives of Oxford students, building a university where students are genuine partners in shaping their own Oxford experience.

OUSU’s elected officers represent all Oxford students when meeting with the University, local and national government and the wider community on issues that matter to you. It is through OUSU that you can have your say in the big debates facing the University and the higher education sector.

There are a range of Student Union campaigns you can get involved in if you are passionate about making a change in the University or the student community, ranging from the LGBTQ campaign to the campaign for the Living Wage. OUSU produces a weekly newspaper that you can write for, the Oxford Student, and also has its own radio station Oxide.

OUSU continues to support college student representatives in their work providing training, advice and help for students to get affordable rent, better food and higher quality services. OUSU has several events and activities that students can take part in during their time here. There is also a wealth of information for students on housing, academic issues, welfare, disabilities, financial problems and childcare.

There are no subscription fees associated with membership to OUSU. Click here for more information about your membership.
