Over 200 clubs and societies covering a wide variety of interests are available for students to join or attend.
Oxford University Sport
Oxford has 85 university sports clubs, countless college teams, and recreational opportunities - the largest offering of any university in the world!
Oxford University Sport on Iffley Road caters for all and many colleges have pitches and facilities, plus there is a fantastic 8-lane 25 metre swimming pool. The pool is available for swimming for fitness, competition or just relaxing in the crystal clear water 7 days a week. Oxford University Sport was chosen by the New Zealand Triathlon Team for their 2012 Olympic training base. It’s really affordable with great value memberships for students, and in some cases is free.
Oxford Union
The Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. It has been established for 189 years, aiming to promote debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
Common Rooms
The Junior Common Room (JCR) for undergraduates and Middle/Graduate Common Room (MCR/GCR) for graduates refers to both a physical room and a body, of which students are members. Elected representatives will often run social events and activities as well as providing support and advice services and a means of voicing student concerns about College affairs.

Cherwell - Cherwell is the independent student newspaper of Oxford University
Oxford Student - a weekly newspaper produced by and for members of the University of Oxford; it is sometimes abbreviated to The OxStu. The paper was established in 1992 by the Oxford University Student Union (OUSU).
Isis Magazine - England’s longest running independent student magazine, was founded at Oxford University in 1892. The magazine run events, a website and one print issue a term accompanied by a digital version exclusively posted on the Isis website.
University Club (Graduates)
The University Club is located on Mansfield Road and offers graduates a range of sporting facilities including a gym, football and cricket pitches and social spaces such as a bar, cafe and restaurant.
Oxford Newcomers' Club
Provides a meeting point for partners of newly arrived graduate students and staff, including coffee mornings, tours of Oxford colleges, visits to museums, and coach trips to places of interest in the surrounding area.
