Suit into Loot week, 17-23 June 2013

The University of Oxford has partnered with the textile recycling charity TRAID, to recycle and reuse as many unwanted clothes/shoes and textiles as possible from students during Suit into Loot week, 17-23 June 2013.

Your unwanted clothes can help TRAID raise valuable charitable funds to help tackle poverty and injustice in the garment industry. TRAID make use of everything - from suits, dresses, shoes, curtains to old tea towels, they will take it all! Drop off your bag of unwanted items at TRAID bins located at the following University sites between 17-23 June:

Said Business School, Park End Street
Zoology Department, South Parks Road
Mathematical Department, St Giles
University Club, Mansfield Road

Interested in media, digital technology and China?

Tsinghua University, China, is running a Leaders of Tomorrow summer programme, 'Building a Sustainable Digital Nation'. The programme, to be held from 3-11 August 2013, will bring together students from different countries to generate ideas and conduct research on the design of digital integrated systems. The programme fee and accommodation, plus meals and cultural events, will all be covered by Tsinghua University. For further details, please visit the International Strategy Office’s website. The application deadline is 20 June 2013.

Zhejiang University Scholarships

Are you interested in studying in China? Zhejiang University are offering 2 full scholarships to Oxford students applying to study on their new China Studies programme in September 2013. For further details and to apply, please visit the Zhejiang University website. The closing date for Oxford applicants is 10 July 2013.

Careers Fairs in Asia in September 2013

Working in collaboration with Cambridge University, Imperial College London and the London School of Economics, the University of Oxford will be hosting the following careers fairs in Asia:

  • Hong Kong Careers Fair, Monday 2 September 2013, 15:00-19:00, British Council
  • Shanghai Careers Fair, Wednesday 4 September 2013, 14:30 – 17:00, Ramada Plaza Hotel
  • Beijing Careers Fair, Friday 6 September 2013, 14:30 – 17:00, Novotel Beijing Peace Hotel

The fairs will be attended by a variety of employers from different employment sectors and are an opportunity for students to meet top western multi-nationals and local organisations who are recruiting into the region. Clinical Vaccine Trials Volunteers

The Jenner Institute are developing vaccines against major global diseases and want healthy volunteers to take part in trials of them. If you are aged 18 to 55 and are in good health, get in touch to receive more information. Participants will be paid compensation for expenses and time put aside to take part. Email VaccineTrials@well.ox.ac.uk or call 01865 857406 or visit the Jenner Institute website. Each study will require short visits to an outpatient clinic over 4–12 months. A response to this advertisement will be recorded, but carries no obligation to take part.
