Help us to improve the Student Gateway
The Student Gateway website provides a single point of access to information, services and resources for current students. To ensure the website remains an effective means of student communication a project is currently taking place to refresh its design and structure. An online survey will be live on the website from Monday afternoon for two weeks to seek your feedback on how easy it is to find content. The survey will take no longer than 5 minutes and your response will help us to improve the website’s navigation. To take part, please visit the Student Gateway and follow the onscreen instructions.Candidates with alternative exam arrangements
The deadline for applying for exam adjustments is the Friday of 4th week of the term before the exam takes place. Therefore, if you have exams in Trinity Term, applications should be in by Friday 8th February. Timetables are published on the Student Gateway, at the latest, five weeks before the date of the first exam with an individual timetable following after (no later than 2 weeks before the first date of the exam). Please check your individual timetable and, if alternative arrangements put in place for you are missing, email exam.arrangements@admin.ox.ac.uk. Permissions for alternative arrangements do not carry over if you change course and will have to be reapplied for. Only permissions that explicitly state that they are ongoing are carried over from one year of a course to the next. If you have been granted a non-ongoing permission and think that you will need the arrangements again, please contact your College. The Internship Programme 2013: International Internships now LIVE!
The Internship Programme (formerly known as OUIIP) provides access to exciting summer internships, with opportunities available across the world in a huge variety of sectors including International Development, Research, Policy, Programming, Education, Conservation and Finance. These internships are open for application exclusively to current matriculated Oxford University students, including those in their final year of study. There are already more than 100 international internships on offer and new opportunities will keep appearing throughout January – so keep checking! The application deadline is 12 February 2013, with candidates selected during March and April. UK internships will be listed after 1 February with an application deadline of 5 March. To find out more, come to one of The Internship Programme’s Presentations or Application Drop-In Sessions.Changes to single sign-on accounts for Research Post Graduate Students
As a result of the new eVision online system to support the administration of degree ceremony bookings, single sign-on (SSO) access to eVision for research post graduates has been extended from 6 months post University card expiry to 10 months. This is to allow sufficient time for you to book degree ceremonies in the event of delays to course completion and the right to supplicate. Access does not extend to other resources such as library resources or email accounts; the entitlement to the full range of University IT Services continues until the expiry date on your University Card. Prior to leaving the University it is recommended you register an alternative email address using the self registration pages. You can also set your University email account to forward email to a new address for a further two months following Card expiry, providing this is carried out before your University Card expires.UK ICT Pioneers 2012 competition
Two Oxford DPhil students made it to the final twelve in a prestigious national competition for pioneering information and communication technology (ICT) researchers. Our congratulations to Philip Dolan, Wolfson College/Materials, and Mattias Heinrich, St Hilda’s College/Engineering Science.
The UK ICT Pioneers 2012 competition is organised by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council’s (EPSRC) and was open to all second and third year UK postgraduate research students in ICT-related subjects. The final took place at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, where the finalists showcased their work before the competition's four category winners were awarded cash prizes of £2,000. The EPSRC is the UK's main agency for funding research in engineering and the physical sciences. EPSRC invests around £800 million a year in research and postgraduate training, to help the nation handle the next generation of technological change. More information is available from the EPSRC website.
