21. St Edmund Hall
The door to the chapel of St Edmund Hall, which is located in the Front Quad. The two-storey chapel was designed and built by Bartholomew Peiseley. Its construction was organised by the college principal, Stephen Penton, who raised funds, gave money, and sold the college silver to build his college the chapel and library he thought it deserved. Of particular interest is the carved stone above the door. To either side are carved books, hinting at the library on the first floor above the ante-chapel.
