Careers in research surveys

Computer keyboard with 'feedback' button

Researchers are invited to complete an online survey about their experience of being a member of research staff at Oxford. This is part of a national survey of UK research institutions.

There are two versions of the survey:

  1. CROS (Careers in Research Online Survey) is open to all research staff who are not in receipt of their own grants. It examines researchers’ views of their career development.
  2. PIRLS (Principal Investigators and Research Leaders Survey) is open to those who hold their own research grants. It focuses on PIs’ views of research leadership and the support they need.

Both surveys run until 17 May and take about 20 minutes to complete.

The responses, which will be recorded anonymously, will be used to help shape training and support provided to researchers by the University. The results will also be used to inform the research environment section of the University's forthcoming REF submission, and in response to audits by RCUK and the European Commission, both of which will affect the University's access to research funding in the future.
