Two new senior appointments have been made in the Public Affairs Directorate.
Ceri Thomas, currently Editor of the BBC’s Panorama programme, has been appointed Director of Public Affairs and Communications. He will take up the post in the autumn.
Ceri Thomas has had a distinguished career in both radio and television. He has served as Head of BBC News Programmes, and between 2006 and 2012 was Editor of the Today Programme on BBC Radio Four. He is a graduate of the University of Manchester, and from 2004-05 was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
Jonathan Ray has been appointed to the new role of Head of Communications, reporting to the Director of Public Affairs and Communications. A graduate of Durham University, he has extensive experience in higher education, including as Communications Director at the University of Nottingham and Communications Advisor to the President of KAUST. He worked previously for UKTI Education in the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.
In the period before Ceri Thomas takes up his appointment, Jonathan Ray will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Public Affairs Directorate.
