Professor Anne Trefethen, Chief Information Officer, IT Services, has been appointed as the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services and University Collections) with immediate effect. This is an appointment at 25% of full-time and Professor Trefethen will continue in her role as CIO.
As Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Services and University Collections (ASUC), Anne Trefethen will oversee the University’s libraries, museums and collections and its language teaching services. She has taken over responsibility for the ASUC portfolio from Professor Ian Walmsley, who will remain Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research).
Anne Trefethen was appointed as the University’s first Chief Information Officer in March 2012, prior to which she served as Director of the Oxford e-Research Centre. Before coming to Oxford in 2005, she was a Director of the UK e-Science Core Programme and, before this, she worked at NAG (Numerical Algorithms Group) in both management and technical roles. She has spent ten years in the US at Thinking Machines Corp and at the Theory Centre, Cornell University, in leadership roles.
