Emma Anderson (DPhil student in Architectural History), Dr Martin Ruhs (Associate Professor in Political Economy) and Simon Wenham (former DPhil student at OUDCE) will lead a multidisciplinary discussion on the theme of 'movement', particularly as it relates to their own work:

  • Simon Wenham - More than three men in a boat: Pleasure boating on the Upper Thames from the Victorian period onwards
  • Emma Anderson - The Hotel de Luxe in London at the turn of the century: a cosmopolitan melting pot
  • Martin Ruhs - Is unrestricted immigration compatible with inclusive welfare states? The (un)sustainability of EU exceptionalism

Speakers each have 15 minutes to deliver their presentation, after which there will be a panel discussion and Q&A, followed by a wine reception at 6pm.
