Across the human genome, the major histocompatibility complex region on chromosome 6 harbors the largest number of genotype-phenotype associations identified to date.

In this talk, Professor Paul de Bakker of the Utrecht Brain Center will give an overview of some of the advances that have helped in the characterization of inherited DNA sequence variation across the region as well as the fine-mapping of MHC associations for a wide range of diseases.
