Michael Noble, Professor of Social Policy

Michael Noble is Professor of Social Policy at Oxford. Director of
the Centre for the Analysis of South African Social Policy (CASASP) and
the Social Disadvantage Research Centre (SDRC) at the Department of
Social Policy and Social Work. He is an Honorary Research Fellow of the
South African Human Sciences Research Council and received an OBE in
2001 for his contributions to poverty research. In 2008 he was made a
CBE for services to social research on poverty and deprivation.
His major research interests are in the areas of poverty and social exclusion and income maintenance policy. He has been an advisor to the UK Government on small area indicators of poverty and deprivation and is currently working with the South African Government's Department of Social Development (DSD) to develop the evidence base for pro-poor policy making.
