Oxford and technology transfer
| Introduction | People | Projects | Statistics |
Oxford was a UK pioneer in establishing a successful model of technology transfer within a university.
Isis Innovation, its wholly-owned technology transfer company, established in 1987, works with researchers who wish to develop their ideas commercially. Isis sets up spin-out companies, arranges licensing agreements with existing companies and facilitates consulting contracts. It files patents at a rate of one a week, manages more than 200 licensing deals and in the past decade has launched 60 companies across the disciplinary spectrum. Isis now has a division that works internationally with other universities, research institutes and business to develop their technology transfer activities.
